With the new challenge in the 21st century, education is facing more and more challenges. In realizing the need to fulfill up to this challenges and standard, the government should upgrade and provide each lab in schools with highly and sophisticated advanced technology.

The increased use of ICT has led to the introduction of new pedagogical approaches, including Resource Based Learning (RBL) where varied learning needs are supported by a wide range of ICT assets. Science subjects in particular are extremely amenable to the advantages offered by RBL and the associated ICT assets. The implementation of technology-supported collaborative inquiry allows teachers to design the educational setting as an integrated whole that provides students with relevant technological tools, directs them to collaborate effectively, and promotes epistemologically high-level and creative ways of working with knowledge.
The use of ICT in school helps to promote the use of Information technology among students in the classroom. Not everybody has the access to use ICT or can afford to have one especially the low income family. The only access that they can have is through the school. In school, especially with the rise of SPN21, the students must be able to work cooperatively in groups, on projects that cross disciplines, constructing knowledge using a variety of both electronic and print research and reference materials, just as problems are solved in real-world and work situations.
It is more on the holistic approach and hence education must provide information, skills, and experiences that are relevant to the world in which students will live and work. This is where literacy in ICT is vital for both teachers and students in the learning process especially in science subject.
In learning science, the use of ICT can, at least, bring about the clarity on whatever concepts that are abstract to the students. Anything that are abstracts like atoms, structure of proteins and another molecules, any sorts of natural processes and many others can be shown through animations, simulations or videos so that students get a better grab on the concept and ideas.
But then I still have some doubts on its effectiveness since it is still a topic of dispute on whether the use of ICT can improve in both teaching and learning in term of Brunei context. Would accelerated learning can be achieved through this? Can it provide a better learning outcomes for the learners in Bruneian schools?
Hello Guys!
Welcome to my educational website. I’m sure all of you are going to find this website is pretty much useful for both learning and teaching in Science. Enjoy!
